“To BE or not to BE” ~ Polarization and the Geometry of the Swastika

In Armenia swastika is called “arevakhach” and “kerkhach” (Armenian: կեռխաչ)[40][dubious ] and is the ancient symbol of eternity and eternal light (i.e. God). Swastikas in Armenia were founded on petroglyphs. During the bronze age it was depicted on cauldrons, belts, medallions and other items.[41] Among the oldest petroglyphs is the seventh letter of the Armenian alphabet – “E” (which means “is” or “to be”) – depicted as half-swastika.

Swastikas can also be seen on early Medieval churches and fortresses, including the principal tower in Armenia’s historical capital city of Ani.[40] The same symbol can be found on Armenian carpets, cross-stones (khachkar) and in medieval manuscripts, as well as on modern monuments (symbol of eternity).[42]

In the first paragraph above it was last line that caught my attention.
I wonder why?

Cosmic microwave background (CMB) studies underpin our understanding of the universe and its history. Until recently, we have relied principally on CMB temperature observations to build our standard cosmological model, but today the field forges ahead into its next frontier – CMB polarization anistropy. Polarization measurements will furnish fresh and independent information on the primordial density perturbations and cosmological parameters, and they offer the exciting potential to detect primordial gravity waves, constrain dark energy and measure the neutrino mass scale. I review the science and long-term goals of CMB polarization measurements and discuss current results and future observational projects. A vigorous program of ground-based, suborbital and space-based (e.g., WMAP and Planck [2008]) experiments is guiding us towards a future space mission dedicated to high precision polarization measurements.

Abstract

The exact solution of the Maxwell equations in the most common nonstationary homogeneous Gödel-type metric is given. The frequency spectrum of the electromagnetic field and its connetion with polarization are considered. The principal difference of that spectrum in causal and acausal metrics is outlines. The spectrum is divided into three regions: one discrete and two different continuous ones. The discrete part and one of the continuous parts differ from the third one: in that case the dispersion relation is not ω → −ω symmetric (due to the rotation of the universe). The helicity-angular-velocity-coupling in a rotating universe makes in some cases the positive and negative continua intersect.
